In Class Writing No. 9(My Response to Elaina's Paper).

What is her argument? and how did she set it up?
The essay was FANTASTIC!!!!, I was well informed. She gave lots information that supported her thesis. At the beginning she spoke about the ARG and she then branched off into a particular episode entitled 'Bree Phone Home' and then she merged them supporting her thesis.
My Critiques.
1)She didn't really elaborate on LonelyGirl 15 the series
2)She should have been clearer who her target audience was, at the time she wrote it.

How Does LonelyGirl 15 fit into the film Market? (In Class Writing No. 8)

I think that LonelyGirl 15 fits into the mini-film market, only because of the way the series was shot: very intimate and she was the director, producer and writer of it(at least that is what we were lead to believe). But the popularity of the series lately makes it lean towards the Television market as well.

Karen's Response:
I agree she makes a good argument but Lonelygirl is short. They are 2-3 min long and don't really compare to a movie.

Yael's Response:
How does the fact that its so popular make it more like T.V. Can't a movie gain a lot of popular too?

Doris's Response:
Because of the time each clip is made to make it more like a TV series. It has a continuity rhythm to each video that makes you want to see what's next; just like a TV show like Sex and the City.

Nicole Terrano's Response:
I think that it could be like a mini film except that she pretty much carries on one topic from one show to the nexr unlike videos that stop.

In Class Writing No.7

In the LonelyGirl videos there is a sixteen year old girl, who talks about her parents and how they're so strict and religious. She also has her friend Daniel there who is always in the background hiding from the camera whenever he's in her room. I also noticed a picture frame with a picture that looks like a Church in the background anytime she's there.

Fact from Proving Science Wrong: Ants are really stupid by themselves but in a group they're smart and they communicate with each other to get ahead.

-In the video of 'Bree' swimming the music is 60's Funky, aphrodisiac music and Daniel is taking different shots of her body.

-I believe that having the fans' perspective on these videos gives them a sense of control, knowing that their suggestions could sort of manipulate the way the plot of the series go. Also having this on television would be too expensive.

In Class Writing No.6(UNIT 2).

1)What is appealing about 'Bree' the Lonely Girl Character?
I think that she may relate to other weird teenage girls like herself.
Girls who look like her but are afraid to admit to themselves that they have a weird side might find her cool or even much of a role model.

2)What is it saying 'YouTube' is for the generation right now? Is it imitating people right now, What's the language saying to you?
The language I think is saying that young people frankly have nothing better to do with their lives and so they spend time talking about useless parts of their lives and posting it for America to see.

3)In the video I agree with Zack, he made some very strong claims pertaining to the technology of the world and how far we as individuals have come from the past 100 years. At the end he makes a strong thesis saying "YouTube can change the world"only if we let it. We have control over our lives and if we choose to let YouTube consume our lives then there's a great chance that YouTube can change the world just the same was as the Industrial Revolution changed our life.

4)I think people's desire to be on YouTube for 'the whole world' to see is very appealing to some individuals because it gives them a chance to be famous and have their name or talent known to everyone there.

5)Are you more important electronically than in real life?
Of course, I am more important electronically than in real life in my opinion but when it comes to how other individuals see me who aren't my friend or my family members then I will say probably in their opinions I'm more important electronically than in real life(they just don't know me).

The Information Empire
Mark Poster
In the article the Information Empire, Mark Poster says,"The best, recent example of counter-productive tactics is Al-Qaeda's murderous acts of Septemer 11, 2001, playing as they did right into the hands of George W. and his crew in their bellicose, hypernationalist designs".
In MLA Format
As Mark Poster stated on The Information Empire, the September11 attacks executed by AlQaeda is a good example of an action which had an opposite effect of what its original intentions were; feeding into George W. Bush's nationalists desires and hunger for war(317).

Cubism Artist: Elena Guru.

Elena Guru(1877-1913)was a talented painter as well as a poet who worked during the period of transition between Russian Symbolism and Futurism. Her texts were inspired by and devoted to St.Petersburg and was written between 1905-1910. The fact that Guro moved from painting to text may have been inspired by the nature of language and particularly prose. According to Markov, Guro stands as probably the most representative of all Russian impressionists. In here work Guro combines fragments which show objective scenes, her emphasis is placed on her brush and what we are given is not a complete picture but a mosaic of details which can be combined in different ways for what the poet/painter is unveiling for e.g. a picture of the city, its atmosphere and the frame of mind of her personae. Guro also admired Brjusov, Blok and Belyj and she read Verlaine, Verhaeren adn Vide'-Griffin.

My Response to Ling's Paper.

In the essay that Ling wrote he pulled out pieces of what the author said in the article. There were the first four lines of the second paragraph where I did not understand a thing, but I tried really hard to. Throughout the entire article he switched some words around and the Grammar was not the best, however the Punctuation was alright in some cahpters. In other chapters I thought he used too many commas e.g Chapter1, Line 4. I don't believe he summarized all of it, I don't believe he talked much about what the author stated when he talked about people's obsession in a way to on Avatar sites even when they're tired from a long day's work. In terms of his Rhetorical Context I got that he was talking to his friends e.g Chapter 2, Line 6.
I knew his point of view because it was in Chapter 3 and 4. I saw his objections to the article clearly, he also convinced me of his point mainly because of his evidence in Chapter 3, Lines 11 and 12. He definitely provided enough evidence to support his point and it was greatly informative and enough.
Ling: My Editorial Classmate
Ling is originally from China and he's a freshman like me. He likes the 'Lord of the Rings' and listening to Pop music which we also have in common, however he likes listening to country music which is a total shock because he looks like he enjoys listening to Rock n' Roll. From his profile I can also see that he likes soft music, but soft music puts me to sleep and so I try not to listen to it much.

What Is It About Avatar sites that are so Appealing to Us?
I think that MySpace is so addictive because it gives you a feeling of control. You can customize your profile the way you want and no one can tell you what to do. Also there's no need to see the person in real when you can just chat with them online, you can let a certain number of people see your profile or not, you control your friends e.g. what they see, how much they see and how much friends you have. You get the chance to be a boss even if it's just for a couple of minutes or hours. You can make fun of people's pictures and post crazy stuff on their profile, things you might be too shy to say to their face. Also when you get annoyed with somebody you can block them althogether. Everything's at your fingertips.

Loud
Scary
Weird
Creepy
Freaky
Scratchy
Unexplainable

What I heard just now was what (sounded like an old guy speaking French) I believe. The other sounds I heard were just plain weird, loud, freaky and (not exactly comprehendable), because I didn't know what to categorize these sounds under. (Some of them sounded like a creepy door all the way down to something that came out of a scary movie.)
